Geoff’s steaks turn out tender and juicy every time, yet his method is so simple, it isn’t so much a recipe as it is a revelation.
What you’ll need:
one or more steaks
TIP: The better the cut, the better the end result. Our two favorite cuts are the tenderloin (pictured here) and the rib steak with the bone in.
Montreal Steak Spice – also known as Canadian steak spice (We like the version made by club house – labeled “no MSG added”)
Gluten free BBQ sauce
And that’s it – but the real secret is the grilling method.
What you’ll do:
Heat your grill to high then turn down to lowest possible setting.
Lightly wash the steak and pat it dry with paper towel.
Sprinkle the steak with spice mixture to taste (Aaaargh! It’s a salty mix. You be forewarned!)
Put steaks on the grill and … now here’s the secret …. flip every 5 minutes until done. And that’s it!
If you are using BBQ sauce, add during the final two flips. Steaks an inch thick or so take about 20 minutes to cook to medium-rare/medium which is our preferred doneness. When in doubt, use the finger test or a meat thermometer. Click here for a temperature guide.
Serve with grilled veggies, baked beans, and gf and me’s roast potatoes.
