This is Geoff’s mother’s family recipe for ham and pea soup. Easy to make with not a lot of ingredients it makes a basic soup that’s fabulous for dinner and can be frozen and reheated for quick lunches. It’s incredible… One of our favorite soups!

What you’ll need:
Bone leftover from a cooked GF ham
450 gram package of split peas
1 potato (diced)
1 onion (diced)
5 celery stocks (chopped)
3 carrots (chopped)
2 cups chopped ham
1 teaspoon gluten free seasoning salt
salt and pepper taste
water
What you’ll do:
Place all ingredients into stock pot or large dutch oven, holding back 1 cup of diced ham. Fill pot 2/3 full with water (enough to cover the ham bone).
Simmer on low for 2 to 3 hours. Remove from heat and cool.
Remove bone and blend in blender or food processor until smooth.
Add remaining chopped ham.
TIP: Hold back some of the cooked vegetables and add after blending for a chunky pea soup.
Heat and serve.
TIP: Freeze leftovers in single serving microwavable containers. This soup makes a great lunch!
